Tailoring & Tortoiseshell

You can’t go shopping online without finding tortoiseshell all over the place at the moment, can you? It’s a little trend that I’m loving and I find it works really well when added to accessories, shoes and bags. I suppose its classed as an animal print, and we all know that’s a booming trend this season too (however I’m yet to buy a proper leopard print shirt yet).

On a separate note, I start my job full time next week and it’ll be the first time I’ve worked full time in nearly 4 years – I’m so excited to be doing it so I can earn *real* money for holidays (clothes) but of course it will impact my blog work. I do intend to blog once a week like I’m doing now, but working full time has one very exciting addition: all the workwear!!

A/W mixed with workwear is definitely one of my favourite combos.

I love tailoring and I’m building quite the collection of blazers for the new season. When shopping recently I found the cutest check New Look skirt which is ideal for the rest of summer with a top and blazer, but I can imagine it’ll be perfect with tights and boots in the coming months. The skirt itself is nude/brown but if you look closely it has a hint of red in the lines, so you can match plenty of coloured tops with it. Something like this (£10 in the sale!) would be fab.

At the same time I also spotted the black top you can see in this look. It’s just a smart black tee to be honest, but the tortoiseshell ring detail made me NEED it in my wardrobe. You always need tops like this to wear with printed bottoms and jeans – such a staple! It comes in orange and mustard too.

Did you think this was a matching two-piece suit? Wrong! The blazer is actually from Next and it just so happens to be a near perfect match. I originally saw a rust blazer in Next (can’t find online) but it just didn’t look right on me, and when I came across this one I knew it was the one. I did have to size up to a 12 in it, especially as you want to be comfy at work, but at £48 it’s amazing quality and I can see it being one of those timeless pieces I have for years.

The tortoiseshell really comes in throughout my accessories. Obviously you can see the adorable tortoiseshell ring tie on my top, which is my new favourite thing ever, but I’ve also got the print on my earrings and my bag.

Hoops are a classic earring to own, but I keep seeing chunky ones on the high street recently and had to have these New Look ones (only £3.99!!). See a more detailed shot below if you fancy, but they look lush with my blonde/brunette mixed hair.

And spot the tortoiseshell on my bag handle! I wore this bag in an outfit post last month, but it had to return with this look as it goes so well with the red/deep orange check print. The print and almost marble effect handles are just beaut and I’m desperate for it in beige with snake print!
