How To Style Summer Items In Autumn

Just a few things I’m obsessed with at the moment… the colour orange, chunky ankle boots, and summer clothes that I can wear into autumn and winter.

I seem to have collected 100 summery skirts over the last few months, and to be honest I still seem to be buying them. With the rise of midi skirts this year, I feel like I’m swaying towards midi skirts with boots and jumpers rather than short skirts, tights and boots like I usually do. It’s a new kind of outfit for me but I love the layering aspect, and I love that items I used to wear with crop tops and sandals can be created into new outfits now it’s a bit chillier.

The skirt that has hold of my heart at the moment is this ribbed midi skirt from ASOS. I was looking for something online that was plain and ordinary so that it could be worn easily with printed or coloured tops, and this was ideal. It has poppers up the front which adds a new take on the button-up trend, and the bottom half is left open to add some slit detailing. The skirt itself was only £16 and the quality is lush!

I knew as soon as it came that it would be the perfect layering staple for my wardrobe and have since worn it with all kinds of things, but for this look I’ve gone for a casual, bold knit outfit.

The bold knit in question is this B E A U T Y from & Other Stories. Believe it or not it’s the first item I’ve ever owned from there (I couldn’t quite splurge on a £70 velvet skirt I was obsessed with last season), but I’m glad I saved up some pennies and bought myself a good quality jumper that I know won’t rip to shreds or bobble up after one wash.

The jumper comes in a couple of typical colours like cream and camel, but the deep orange colour is SO me, and you know it’s going to look amazing against the autumn leaves soon!

To pull the outfit together I wanted to keep it casual with some chunky black boots – these ones are from Rocket Dog and they’re the comfiest things on earth. I love a chelsea-style boot that you can easily slip on when you need to run errands (or take outfit photos) and these ones look great with the outfit.

To keep the eye on the jumper I’ve kept my bag black – this one is an old find from River Island but they have a really similar one online at the moment, shop it here!
