Purple Pleats

I’m so excited about party season! It’s finally getting to that time where you’re putting down deposits for the Christmas work do and I’ve also got some Halloween and birthday events coming up. I know I moan about preferring summer (I’m a sun girl at heart) but nothing beats autumn and winter when it comes to parties.

I really need to vamp up my party wardrobe, especially as I have a ball-gown-vibe conference at the beginning of December with work, but for now I’m trying to find more glam pieces that can be incorporated into everyday outfits.

Recently I found the LUSHEST (is that a word?) pleated skirt in the history of the world and I HAD to have it. Seriously… there’s a proper love story behind it.

The skirt itself is a beaut from H&M. I saw it a while ago in Oxford but they only had tiny sizes, and although I’d seen a few other options in M&S and Next, nothing compared to the purple one I’d seen in H&M. I bought one on ASOS and it just wasn’t right and actually wasn’t great quality, so I decided to take it back. I looked in another H&M near to home a few days later which had FIVE size 8’s and no others. Eventually at the weekend I found it in a size 12 and it was mine! I should go into romantic novel writing, shouldn’t I?

The skirt is a longer midi length and the waist is elasticated, just how I like it. It hasn’t got pockets, but I think pockets would bulk the skirt out at the top too much. I love how I can wear it casually, like I have here, but pop on a pair of heels and a silver top and you’ve got the ideal party outfit. One top I’m considering matching it with is this Urban Outfitters cami!

I wanted to create an easy everyday outfit with the skirt and this New Look thin knit is ideal. I will not shut up about how much I love the knit because the sleeves are lovely and long – something which I always struggle with!

I’ve kept on the purple theme with a lush new Carvela bag from Shoeaholics. How nice is the chain detail?! The colour match is perfect and it’s a good size for a weekend shopping trip. The scarf doesn’t come with the bag, but the whole leopard print vibe was a cute little addition and the scarf itself is a bargain from New Look (not online yet!).

Spot the purple on the shoes too? These Ted Baker boots are a new staple in my wardrobe and they’re an absolute necessity for autumn. As well as being mega comfy (size up though!) they’re such good quality and you know they’ll last years. As a side note – head over to Insta and pop a shoefie with some Ted Baker shoes to be in with a chance to win some vouchers!
