As I write this it’s mid heatwave and whilst I listen to Radio 1 dance anthems I can’t help but think I should be in a field somewhere with an aperol spritz or 2, but alas lockdown (and my health) have other ideas. Still, at least I know what I’d wear, and check print skirts are definitely a key item to have in your wardrobe this summer.
During another one of those 20% off sales that ASOS keep throwing at us recently I found myself scrolling through the brand Heartbreak and was obsessed at the affordability and design of their skirts. Even though check print skirts mainly remind me of the Clueless film, they’re an easy styling piece and can be worn even in Autumn and Winter with jumpers, tights and boots. It’s about time I had one really… well that was my justification to buying one!
There were a few different check colours to choose from but I loved this peachy combo! I knew it would work with both black and white and obviously it’d be perfect with a tan and gold jewellery. There was a lilac one I was very tempted with though!
It was a bargain at £20 in the sale and the fit is ideal – it’s also lined too, I can’t say if the others are but a lined skirt makes all the difference in my opinion!
I’ve gone for a full white summer look with this one. The top is Miss Selfridge and sits just at right length. I’ve thrown a Dorothy Perkins linen shirt over the top (I didn’t really need it but on a cooler day it would look great – a blue linen shirt would be a great colour match too).
To keep the summery neutral tones I’m wearing an ASOS summer hat, a Debenhams basket bag and an orange scrunchie on my wrist (who actually wears them! Haha!). I’ve added a layered gold necklace and some gold rings too because I’m obsessed with gold jewellery at the moment! My Daniel Wellington watch made an appearance too to pull the look together.
THE TOP CHECK PRINT SKIRTS!
I’ve found the best so you don’t have to. They’re all high street and such good bargains too. Click through to see and click the images to shop.
