Ever find an item that you’re SO glad you found?! That’s what happened when I found a Topshop pleated midi skirt in store IN THE SALE for £15 a few months ago. It was one of those pieces that only had one size left and it was my size, and I loved it!
It was meant to be, you know?
I’ve styled said skirt a couple of times on my Instagram and the first time I wore it in this post it was an absolute hit! I felt awful that it was an old item and was no longer online so none of you could buy it. Obviously I was pretty smug about my purchase nonetheless. It was the ideal summer piece and was easy to wear with a t-shirt tucked in and some summery sandals. Fast forward a couple of months and it’s getting a little cooler – I still want to wear my favourite skirt. I want to find new ways to wear it and I’m so excited to chuck on a chunky jumper with it in winter!
For the transition from summer to autumn, however, I thought the perfect way to wear this skirt was with a shirt and vest combo. I found this black shirt in H&M and it’s honestly the perfect black shirt for work! It is a little sheer and looks best with a black vest underneath (and a few buttons undone). Too cold? I’d definitely add a black blazer to this look or a longline cardigan.
I love how the slouchy black shirt works with the floatyness of the skirt (floatyness is deffo a word), and it’s all inkeeping with a monochrome vibe. The simple shirt also means all eyes are on that damn beautiful skirt.
The bag is an absolute STEAL from Matalan at £10 and I think the pink works really well with the outfit, don’t you think? For the rest of the outfit I’ve got black and gold accessories and some simple black sandals. Give it another month and I’ll be wearing this exact look with chunky black ankle boots. I cannot wait!
Of course you can’t buy this skirt as it’s old now, unless you’re lucky and can find it in your local Topshop (on the sale rack where I found it!). I’ve found so many similar skirts recently so I thought I’d round up my favourites for you! Click the pictures to shop.
Any that take your fancy? This River Island one is the closest that you’ll get to my one!
Do you like a pleated midi skirt? Are you a fan? Let me know what you think of how I’ve styled my one for this transitional period!
